Here's what they look like now. Luckily, I have tons of swatches prior to this. To give others hope, I'll polish & photo as they grow back. It will take about 14 days to see white, 28 to see lenghth, 42 to get close to blogging lenght. Here we go...

They manufacture 10 Professional Nail Lacquer which is the "high end" of the two brands. It comes in a nicely shaped bottle in .50fl oz/15ml sizes for $4.99 each. The lower end is Confetti Long Wearing Nail Color for $1.99 each in a smaller .37 lf oz/11ml bottle. There are one or two dupes in each brand so I'd suggest buying the dupe in Confetti and any other color you like in 10.

I only bought three, but I probably will kick myself for not buying the dark gray color. I purchased 413 - Birthday Suit from 10. It is a sheer opalesque shimmery sheer pinkish beige. Very pretty in the bottle. I will have swatches later, currently I'm suffering a nail set-back.

In Confetti I bought 081 Smitten a very pretty looking purple with multi color superfine glitter/shimmer. The other is a funky looking green with superfine green glitter/shimmer named 097 My Favorite Martian.

I have a feeling I will be back for more. Peep the displays and the dupes.

A nice, light blue creme but I don't consider it a pastel. Opaque in one but I did two. Wears well, applies well. Kind of boring in a pretty kind of way. The reception I got was so-so. I guess this color did not "pop" on me. I think some konad or fauxnad would have made it work. This is a nice color but try before you buy if you can or if you know you like this shade of blue then I say get it.

I've had this one for a while. Since it is sheer I kept putting off wearing it. Smooth application, I think I did three coats and it is still sheer. I got rave reviews from women, the men were not feeling the color. Over all I do like the shade, I think it is pretty and it looks like an OPI color I have. Wears well, no chips. The shimmer inside appears to be gold to me which is why I think I like it. What do you think?

I could do this one year round. The photo does not do it justice. This is a black polish loaded with multi colored or holo-ish glitter. I'm sure this is a dupe of something but what I don't know. All the black with glitter or shimmer I've seen have silver or gold but I've never seen rainbow colors. You know the deal, as the polish catches light from different angles, the glitter just sines like, well, like a diamond. All the facets give off different colors just like this polish.

Good application, opaque in one coat, no top coat. This was one I did just for a photo swatch, I can't wait to see it in a full mani with a topcoat. Go get this and add to your collection. $3.99 a bottle in the DC area and to me that is too much for such a small bottle and a drugstore brand. There are other shades as well, and I think I will get all of the shimmers.

This shade is oh so lovely. I really could not capture the full effect in a photo. It is a navy blue jelly (I think) with turquoise colored super fine glitter in it. This one is supposed to be a new color in their line (had a "new shade" thingy on it). This will be a fall/winter favorite for me. The application was smooth, it is on the sheer side. I did two coats, 3-4 may make it opaque. It wears well and is very attention grabbing. Blue lovers I highly recommend adding this one to your collection.

This reminds me of those yellow street signs. Really, it does. In the bottle it is the same shade and has shimmer in it like the reflective stuff in the street signs. LOL Pardon the air bubbles, as always, I was impatient and did not let the 1st coat or the 2nd coat dry enough. I prefer pastel, creamy yellows but this one is a bright (not neon) yellow with what appear to be yellow shimmer particles. I like it, it is a keeper. This is a color I will use on those gloomy, rainy days to boost my mood. It also makes me think of those bright colored birds that have yellow on them. Let me know what you think.

As usual, another "I kept passing this color up" shade. See, I'd walk past the Wet & Wild display and this color would stand out and call out to me "get me! buy me!". I'd pick it up, tell it "you're pretty but I don't trust you" (LOL) and I'd put it back. Finally it called out to me again and I gave in. I'm so glad that I did.

I've seen the other blogs that show and tell polish types but I'm still a little clueless. This looks like a creamy jelly. ;-P I'm calling it a melon-ish orange. Reminds me of cantaloupe or mango. In fact it looks a little like the orange in the Blogger logo. LOL Once I applied this I was happily surprised. Kind of like I was with Blueberry Fizz. It is bright but not a neon. Again, the photo does no justice & it is not really "orange" IRL. Good application and wear, no chips. Two coats worked fine and it is so pretty. For .99c a good deal I say.
I'm trying to keep my word in keeping my blog updated. *nods* yep.

I bought some of American Apparel's pastels. The test run was a a hit at work. I won't do a full post until I do swatches. Here are the ones I bought.

My NOTD is Finger Paints Hue Rang. A creamy, shimmery dark lavender. I like it and I don't like it. I think I will like it in the fall when I tend to wear darker shades. Opaque in one coat really but to seal the deal I did two coats. Just like all Finger Paints colors I've tried, the quality is good, not thick or goopy, and no air bubbles in spite of my impatience. This is a keeper for those who like the purple family. My final answer is I think it is very pretty bot oddly, I'm not feeling it.

I'll never be the same. I can't describe my amazement as what was initially a strong like like BANG! became love at first sight. I was swept off my feet by Sally Hansen's Lavender Cloud. (Just kidding about the "life changing" part).

I kept picking it up and putting it back for weeks. I hated the price tag and I kept having a nagging doubt if it would be as pretty on me as the swatches I saw on other blogs. But I just HAD to have it and after waffling for weeks I bought it. I don't know why I waited so long. This color is truly my 2010 spring/summer favorite hands down.

This cream is so deliciously dainty. It looks white so the average person or at first glance, but we polish pushers/fanatics/addicts/lovers can see the ever so subtle hint of lavender. Two coats, smooth application, not chalky looking. This is truly one to add to your collection.
Delightful. Lovely. Beautiful.

This is how I feel about Wet and Wild's Blueberry Fizz. I bought it as a BOGO. I'm going back for more. This is one of my all time favorites. It looks very similar to Barry M's Cobalt blue and Maybelline's Summer Splash. BBF can't be found on every W&W display. I found it by chance as I was searching high and low for SH Hidden Treasure. Hope you like this one.
Cool some days, hot others, humid from time to time. The warm days make me thirsty and want to gulp down some thing cool and refreshing. This day I had to get some iced coffee with cream. Usually I drink it black but this day was different. This day I had to see if my polish was true to its name; and it is.
These need to go back in the ocean.Short and not so sweet, just like this polish. L'Oreal's spring colors. I'm so happy I only got two and I promptly returned both because they were terrible. The colors are nice but the formula is thick, clumpy and bubbles like crazy. Buy and try at your own risk. Don't say you were not warned.
Lots and lots of books. I don't remember which story I read but I remember it talking about birds liking shiny things. They'll steal whatever it is and fly off with it. Well that's how I feel about Milani's Metals. I'm hoarding & hiding them. I passed up Orly's foils and never felt bad. I think that Milani has created excellent dupes that are affordable. There are six colors in the collection, I got five because the clear-ish white one did not appeal to me. Enjoy, I know I do.
I was really committed to updating and keeping my word so I'm here at work slaving away. I have lots coming up for you. Some will be just NOTDs but I also have Milani Metals, Sally Hansen's spring colors that I liked, and whatever else I came across as I was pounding the pavement for polish.

There will be a giveaway in July and it will include more than just one polish. Stay tuned for that.
LOL I have not up dated in ages.

In true slacker form, I've been *ahem* lazy aka slacking off. I'm still doing my manis but not posting. I will fix that soon... Right now I'm really digging on the spring colors particularly pastels and pastel or light shade shimmers. Desperately awaiting the summer collections and budgeting for some really expensive brands.

My cuticle nipper broke so I'm going to "invest" in a Tweezerman brand nipper and a glass nail file. I hear that glass files are supposed to be better than the traditional emery boards but I don't understand how. Anyway, I'm going to try one. I'm trying to cease clipping my nails, yes, I'm a clipper. ☺

I have more polish to purge. I will do more giveaways but not sure how or when.

That's it for now. Thank you so much to all of my followers.Lacquer Slackerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14605338569513916807noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3942796574803025705.post-30171202775442910922010-03-05T15:16:00.002-05:002010-03-05T15:22:29.357-05:00China Glaze Spring 2010 Up and Away PastelsIt seems that China Glaze has a hit on its hands with the Up and Away collection. I only purchased the pastels because I like pastels and I'm in love. One coat is enough for coverage but two coats is best for an opaque look. Minimal streaking and easy application. Excuse the air bubbles, that was the OPI top coat not the CG polishes.

A quick visit to the mall today solidified this hit as I was stopped by sales people and shoppers alike about my nails. China Glaze you owe me $93449349324235 for repping your products! LOL
I'll have more giveaways in the future. Stay tuned! Lacquer Slackerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14605338569513916807noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3942796574803025705.post-41993180705450754212010-02-22T21:59:00.001-05:002010-02-22T22:00:05.170-05:00Nfu-Oh Give AwayThis one is really simple.

I'm giving away one bottle of Nfu-Oh because I simply don't like them & I will never use them so I don't want them (and my $$$) go to waste.

I will choose at random one person to send Nfu-Oh #56. It is a green glitter polish.

The rules (subject to change) are:

I will only ship via US Mail to a valid street or P.O. Box address in the continental US

If you want to be considered you must post a reply to this post

You must be a lacquerslacker follower (I may consider followers on Twitter or Facebook fans but right now it is just open to Blogger followers)

Offer ends 2/28/2010 midnight Pacific time since I am EDT

If there are no more blizzards on the East Coast, I will ship the 1st week of March.

This is an authentic Nfu-Oh product ordered from Affinity.Lacquer Slackerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14605338569513916807noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3942796574803025705.post-71157460256569800442010-02-20T05:30:00.000-05:002010-02-20T01:41:51.497-05:00Milani 3D Holographic LacquersBefore you even see the pictures, I LOVE THEM!!!! (in general LOL) I think you all will too and these go on my recommend list. If you can't get them all, at least buy one in your favorite shade.

I'm not a big fan of green so I'm not geeked over this green but if I had to have a green, this would be one option. I'm not partial to the gold either. The rest of the collection I will buy a 2nd bottle of each so that I will always have some on hand.

For the most part, they are true to bottle color and except where noted, the photos are pretty true to what the color looks like IRL. The holo effect is medium in my opinion but very nice. It is exceptionally pretty in the pink (mesmerizing) and the purple. The silver color is hypnotic. All colors are two coats, no top coat. The application was flawless on all, no streaks. You can see in some photos that they appear sheer-ish with flash, but I think they look good with one, two or three coats but two is more than enough.

I want to thank (and blame) Scrangie for my new additions. ;-) It was her review and swatches that got me to buy them. Maybe one day (crosses fingers *soon*) I will get samples from the vendor like some of the other polish bloggers get. *sends supplication to the polish gods for vendor samples* LOL

***Tongue-In-Cheek Disclaimer***
I pay for all polishes that I discuss. I do not receive any free polishes or samples for review from vendors. That said....here are the Milani holos... purchased online from Sears because they are not yet available in any store that I've seen in the DC area.

"3D"

This one is like a gold glitter holo. For those who like golds this one is for you. This photo is pretty true to color.

"Hi Tech"

A pretty green. I was trying to capture the essence but the color is lighter and less yellow than this picture, the shade is closer to the 2nd picture.

"Cyberspace"

I love blue polish. This one is nice and looks exactly like (to me) China Glaze's "Kaleidoscope Him Out". I forgot to take a photo with the bottle, sorry.

"Hi Tech"

A sliver glittery holo. I like this one a lot. I like it because it is better than a glitter yet looks glittery.

Now, my faves of the collection:

"Hi Res"

This beautiful purple was so delicious that I SWORE I smelled grapes as I put this on. I love this color so much. It reminds me of a Nubar holo I have but that is another post & I like this one better.

"Digital"

Positively dreamy. Very feminine. I can't say enough about this one so I will let the pictures say it for me.

Right now I'm doting on Klean Colors cremes/jellies. I really adore them. I refuse to buy Klean Colors Cobalt because it looks very much like a Sinful Colors that I have, but I know me and I will break down and buy it anyway.

I'm currently wearing Milani 3D Hi Res and I love it. I can tell that I will like all the Milani 3D colors. I'm partial to Nubar's holos too and I think Nubar wins by a hair. I have yet to earnestly dig into my China Glaze haul but the holos are looking mighty fine.

I've been experimenting with nail art and I purchased my first set of nail art brushes. I don't have a lot of time so I don't know when I'll use them but I'm looking forward to it.
It will happen.Lacquer Slackerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14605338569513916807noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3942796574803025705.post-38805321265572400852010-01-12T00:02:00.006-05:002010-01-12T00:15:21.421-05:00Nail Care for the La-z ;-)

If you're like me, you are either too busy or too lax to make time for detailed nail care. If so, here are some ideas based on my routine.

Before removing any nail polish:

* Lightly file and shape nail edges with an emery board.

* Apply cuticle remover. A good time to do this is right before bathing, shampooing hair or dish washing by hand. I prefer Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover. This stuff works in 15 seconds or less and you don't want to leave it on longer. I recommend using it before removing nail polish because it is strong and will also remove some of your nail if left on beyond the 10-15 seconds.

* Remove the dead cuticles and cuticle remover using a wash cloth or nail brush (option: tooth brush, new or used).

* Optional: Use an exfoliating paste to slough off dead skin and soften hands. I like Kerasal's Exfoliating Pumice Paste. I only use it on the palms of my hands, not the whole hand.

* Push your cuticles back at the end of bathing (use your damp washcloth or bath towel), shampooing your hair or dish washing by hand. This is a time when your cuticles are soft and pliable. If you want to, this is also a good opportunity to trim dead cuticles or hangnails if you do so on moist, soft cuticles.

* Take whatever kind of oil you have (nail/cuticle oil, evoo, coconut, baby, even a smidgen of Vaseline) and apply it to your nails and cuticles. You can use your towel or damp washcloth to wipe off the excess and push your cuticles back one last time.

* Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize with whatever product you like.

* If your nails are nude and you're doing a full manicure, take a 100% cotton ball (or paper towel, tissue, towel, whatever you prefer) moistened with alcohol and swipe your nail surface to remove oils, polish residue, lotions etc.

* If your nails are painted, remove all polish.

* Paint your nails, finish with a fast drying top coat, and you're done.

It probably takes longer to read this post than to do all the steps. :-)

Hope this helps.
